How do I create an announcement in Blue Ocean Brain?

Navigate to Blue Ocean Brain's announcement feature, then input your details to craft the desired announcement.

Note: The features under the Admin menu are enabled individually for Learning Leaders at each organization. If you believe that you should have access to one or more of these features, please contact us and your request will be forwarded to the appropriate person at your organization for approval.

When you access the Announcements feature, you will see a list of all announcements for your account - current, past and future.  

To create an announcement:

  1. Access the Announcements feature by selecting  Admin and then Announcements in the top menu bar.
  2. Select Create New Announcement.
  3. Tab to the intended field and enter the desired information for this announcement.  
    1. ANNOUNCEMENT VIEWING LOCATION: Select up to 3 locations for the announcement.
      1. across the top of the Blue Ocean Brain Landing page (home page).
      2. on the Library home page. 
      3. on the Blue Ocean Brain email.
    2. ACTIVE: Select this checkbox to allow an announcement to be published at the specified time. If this is not selected when submitted, the announcement will be saved but not be displayed.
    3. PERMANENT: Select this option to prevent a learner from dismissing the announcement.
      1. When an announcement is created, it is displayed to each learner individually.  An individual learner can dismiss the announcement by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of the announcement. Selecting PERMANENT will take away the "X" option.
    4. START DATE/END DATE: Input the dates of when this announcement should be displayed.  Announcements can be pre-scheduled by specifying a specific time frame.
    5. SELECT ICON (Optional):  Select an icon from the provided list that will precede the announcement title. 
    6. URL (Optional): Announcements can contain a link, enabling the learner to click on the announcement and be routed to a specific document or location. 
      1. Find the asset you wish to link to the announcement and copy the URL.
        1. For a BOB asset, copy the URL without the BOB info, starting with the "/" and then the identifying words  (Example:  "/board/...." or "/pack/...." or "/living-library/...."). Please feel free to reach out to your CSM if you would like assistance finding the correct link!
        2. For a non-BOB asset, copy the entire URL.
      2. Input the URL in the designated field.
    7. TITLE: This is free-form text and will be in BOLD font.  There is a limit of 100 characters, including spaces.
    8. ANNOUNCEMENT BODY: This is free-form text.  We recommend that this be no longer than 4 lines.
  4. Once you have entered all of the information and the "test" looks good for this announcement, select Submit.  This will save your announcement and activate it, per your start date.
